Hi, I’m Dr. Ronel Corbin, Founder and Clinic Director of Healing Elephant

Chinese Medicine Physician
Licensed Double Board-Certified Acupuncturist
Clinical Herbalist
Trained in Healing Elephant Method

Like many of you, I have struggled with health problems. I know what it’s like to be in pain, to have anxiety, to feel overwhelmed, tired, weak, moody, and lack focus. I know what it’s like to lay awake at night stressing about my health, go through the day feeling sick and tired, and put on a fake smile just to get through the day.

When I was a teenager, I suffered from hormonal and other troubling health issues. Like many people, my parents sought out the medical profession for help. Their solution was to put me on a contraceptive pill at the age of 13 to control my periods. Fifteen years later, after having had frequent UTIs, Kidney infections, weakened immune system, and diarrhea for a year a Homeopath literally saved my life. I went off the pill, eliminated wheat and dairy ate a healthy diet, and took herbal medicine. I was so relieved to find that all my symptoms were resolved. No one had been able to figure out what was wrong and finally, I had a solution. The day I met that Homeopath was the day that I got my life back.

I have known since a young girl that I wanted to help others to heal. My dissatisfaction with the Western Medicines approach to my own health problems led me to seek out a complementary practitioner. I was so inspired by the philosophy of herbal medicine and that my body had the ability to heal itself. As a result, I completed two degrees in Complementary Alternative Medicine. The first in South Africa where I was born and raised and the second in the United States at the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine. I LOVE to learn and have spent a dizzying number of hours learning how to improve your health.

For most of my career I have dedicated my life to helping complex chronic illnesses and poor health which require rigorous investigation and management. It is complicated and multi-faceted to treat. Its often due to a combination of issues, including:

  • Digestive or gut problems
  • Sleep issues
  • Lack of energy
  • Hidden infections
  • Hormonal imbalances

I am obsessed with health. I know how frustrating it feels to struggle with your health and how helpless you can feel at times. On the flip side, I also know what it feels like to feel strong, pain free, energetic, happy and fulfilled, and clear in my head. I spend countless hours researching, studying, experimenting, and investigating. I believe there must be a way for you to feel better, and I never give up looking for a way to do it faster.

I want to assure you that regaining your health is well within your reach. Having helped thousands of patients, I have a proven track record, a knack for simplifying, and a relentless passion for empowering you to take back control of your health and wellbeing. I would be honored to assist you in your health journey to take you from just surviving to thriving.

But that’s enough about me…lets talk about YOU!

Hi, I’m Manuel Lacayo, LMT

Licensed Massage Therapist

Massage has combined many things I love in life, from science, spirituality, to interpersonal work. I have assisted clients with everything from pure relaxation to pain relief, and full-body massages to more targeted therapeutic massages. I practice a ‘wholistic’ approach considering the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspect of your body in any given moment.

Every person’s unique body requires a different approach and requires a combination of different styles of tissue manipulation. The styles I use range from gentle myofascial release to the more well-known classic deep-tissue massage.

Each session is tailored completely to the needs of the patient on the table, whether it’s a session focused on a particular pain or a more generalized release of tension. My calling in life is to help and serve. I look forward to having people on the table so that I can help them live easier, more pain-free life.

My intention is to provide a space that any client can feel comfortable to maximize the effectiveness of our work together. This is done by being focused and intentional with the work we do in our sessions. My therapeutic approach includes listening to the clients’ wants and needs, being attuned to the receptivity of the tissue, awareness of my clients’ breath and the tension of any structure, then responding and adjusting appropriately to provide what is needed most in the moment.

Just as important during the session is the balancing act that occurs throughout the body from muscle to muscle and then to focus the soft-tissue manipulation with that in mind. I pride myself in my technical knowledge and skills, as well as knowing the difference between a person’s limits and providing the message that meets their individual needs.
In summary, I genuinely love engaging in this work and am ecstatic to provide a form of service that is effective, needed, and enjoyable.

720 hours of Massage Therapy, 6 month program

Manuel is a licensed massage therapist and received his education at Educating Hands School of Massage in Miami, Florida.

Hello my name is Elizabeth,

Licensed Manual Therapist

It is a pleasure to introduce myself. I am the proud mother of two children. I’ve been blessed with a daughter and son. My children have taught me the true meaning of unconditional love. They have been my true teachers who have taught me so many of life’s lessons.

I am a Florida native, with Chilean roots,  but I lived almost 30 years in Germany. Living abroad completely changed my life and my life’s direction. You never know where your life’s journey is going to take you. I learned never to say never. Of course it was very challenging at first, a new language, different mentality, and a whole new culture. But it was the right decision. I got to experience a whole new world which taught me flexibility, acceptance, respect, appreciation, and gratitude.

Germany also helped me find my purpose in life. Massage Therapy. I don’t believe in coincidences, becoming a massage therapist was simply my destiny. I think my first massage was given to my son when he was 9 months. He was born with hydrocephalus and had his first seizure at 9 months. Luckily, Germany’s leading epileptic clinic was not far from where we lived. Joey had the best doctors and during our hospital stay I would imagine his CSF draining well and steady. For some reason I placed my hands on his back and literally thought of how his CSF was flowing from his brain to his spine, while massaging slowly. This calmed him and me too. I learned that touch could help in so many ways!

The seed was planted and some years later I completed massage school. Here is where I learned different modalities like Lomi Lomi, Abyhanga, Bamboo Massage, Foot Reflexology, Trigger Point, Deep Tissue, Swedish Massage, and Sport Massage. After completing the training and getting certified, I started to work at a spa and a few years later, I became the manager of that same spa. I loved working with the guests.I wanted to help them not just for relaxation,  I wanted to help in more ways. My “nickname” in regards to massage therapy is Peaceful Wellness Warrior.

This new direction brought me back to Florida to pursue new opportunities to use massage therapy to heal deeper ISSUES not just TISSUES. Here I had to complete massage school again and pass the Florida massage board to be able to practice massage therapy.

Back in Florida I started to work at a chiropractic office and was introduced to medical massage therapy.

I believe massage therapy not only helps tired and sore muscles, but also tired and sore souls…..

Now I’m lucky to have met Dr. Corbin! She is giving me a tremendous opportunity to learn more ways to heal. I am lucky to be part of her awesome team!! I’m excited to meet many of Dr. Corbin’s patients. I hope to soon earn their trust and together make great things happen!!

Elizabeth will be providing Therapeutic Massage, Foot Reflexology, Lomi Lomi, Bamboo Massage, Abyhanga (Ayurvedic Massage). She will also be providing specialized type of manual therapy called Functional Neuromyofascial Therapy as prescribed by Dr Corbin.
